Larrymore Nelson

1930 – 2009

~In Memoriam~

Larry was born April 16, 1930, to Hiram and Ruth (Driver) Nelson in Eau Claire. He moved to Chetek in 1942 coming from Eau Claire.

He married Cecilia Turany July 14, 1951, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954.

He owned and operated Nelson Oil in Chetek for 49 years. He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Chetek. He was also a member of the American Legion, Milwaukee Bulldog Club, Bulldog Club of America, Indianhead Jim Beam Club, International Association of Jim Beam Bottle and Specialty Club and Chetek Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed raising, showing and judging bulldogs. He also enjoyed being in business in Chetek, traveling throughout the United States and Canada and spending time with his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his wife, Cecilia, of Chetek; a son, David Nelson, of Chetek; a daughter, Susan Wynimko, of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Kathy (Rodney) Madison, of Chetek; a brother-in-law, Richard Nelson, of Rice Lake; five grandchildren, Melissa, Katherine, Zacary, Edward and Cecilia; two greatgrandchildren, Isabelle and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judith; and his sister, Barbara Nelson.
