Mickie Potter Brown

1941 – 2009

~In Memoriam~

Died March 31, 2009 at the age of 68 in Mesa, AZ.

 

Mickie and her husband Jack, have been involved in Bulldogs for more than 40 years. Together they finished approximately 25 Bulldog champions.

 

She owned and showed her first pet Bulldog in 1964. The name of her first kennel in California was Potthouse. Following her marriage to Dr. Jack Brown, former co-owner of Walnut Row Bulldogs in Oklahoma, the kennel name was changed to Jackpott.

 

Mickie was an active member and officer of the The Pacific Coast Bulldog Club, Oklahoma City Bulldog Club and Bulldog Club of Phoenix. She was elected the first woman president of BCA Division III.

 

Mickie was also editor of the quarterly BCA News prior to its name and format change, now known as the BCA's official publication The Bulldogger, first edited by Richard Maze in Spring 1972.

 

Additionally, Mickie was approved by the AKC to judge Bulldogs in October 1997. She judged the dog classes at the Bulldog Club of America National Specialty in 2006. Mickie also judged a specialty show of The Bulldog Club of South Africa.

 

Mickie is survived by her husband Jack, and son Michael Potter.
